Transforming Rehabilitation Reception - July 2014
Speaker's House, House of Commons
The Group held a reception in the State Rooms of The Speaker's House at Westminster on 16 July to draw attention to corporate support for the provision of training and employment opportunities for ex-offenders, including the Ban the Box campaign. Kevin Hogarth, Global Human Resources Director for Freshfields, Bruckhaus Deringer LLP, gave the key address at the event, explaining why Freshfields supports the Ban the Box campaign and how it has worked for them. Bernie, a Freshfields IT apprentice who has benefited from this scheme, also spoke at the meeting as did Paul Kennedy, Business Development Director, Interserve Justice. Some 10% of employees at Interserve Support Services in the UK are ex-offenders and Interserve was another early supporter of the Ban the Box campaign in the UK.
